‘American Psycho’ Writer Claims Luca Guadagnino Reboot Is “Fake News”

Austin Butler is apparently next in line to return some videotapes in Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming American Psycho reboot. But, according to Bret Easton Ellis, who wrote the American Psycho novel, that might not actually be true. Ellis published “American Psycho” in 1992, and the novel quickly became one of the most banned books in America. Mary Harron’s 2000 adaptation, starring Christian Bale, has become a timeless classic, and is endlessly quoted, cosplayed, and memed across the internet, with contemporary fans now able to appreciate the film for the dark comedy it is, not the glorification of violence critics once thought it to be.
